I soldered wires to the three pins on the USB plug first and then soldered the 3 different sets of wires to the leads. Solder the bare wires together. The white wires are not used. SDS100 is a good radio if you can find one available, the SDS radios are the only consumer scanners that are successful with simulcast Distortion secondary to LSM. They work great on simulcast systems while other radios will have difficulties. There have been some quality control issues with a series of specific problems.Location. The G5 battery will last MUCH longer, and it’s lower capacity than the SDS100 with big battery. Both fully charged and locked onto one TG, the G5 lasted 20.5 hours, while the SDS lasted 8 hours. G5 screen timeout set to 45 seconds and SDS100 set to 10 seconds. I am new to the Uniden SDS100 and SDS200. I have one of each; the 100 for the truck and the 200 with a mast-mounted Discone for beside my chair. I am completely ignorant to the proper use of quick keys and the best strategy for using favorites lists to my advantage.. Guitar center

Both GPS devices require outside power when used with the SDS100. They do provide power TO the SDS100 but require 12VDC power to the GPS. The ONLY Uniden scanner that does not require power to the GPS is the SDS200 with the SGPS module, it is powered directly from the SDS200.These are listed here as well. The old scanners worked fine with a amplified speaker plugged in the headphone jack. The jack the on the sds100 is dummied down so low a amplified speaker don't help much. .
